
Mark your calendars for April 7 at Trerhondda in Ferndale, and get ready for an evening of DJ demos and dancing from 6.30 - 10pm. Live music is to be provided by a new local youth band, "The Queue". Tickets cost £1 and are selling fast. A limited number of tickets is available, so buy yours now from reception at Trerhondda.
Local DJ Martin Dibble will entertain with his talents, along with members of Arts Factory's Youth Programme who have been attending his DJ Skills sessions on Tuesday evenings. This is a perfect opportunity to check out our Youth Programme and see how much fun learning a new skill can be right here in your own neighbourhood.
"The Queue" are a band formed in September 2009 by four young peope from the Rhondda Valleys of South Wales: Rees Cook, Gabby Murphy, Jack Parry and Dominic Green. Gigs to their credit so far include the Pencelli Hotel-Treorchy, Treherbet Rugby Club, Pentre Legion and Gilfach Rugby Club, supporting such bands as "Stone Groove" and "Oblivious". The Queue have also played charity gigs and were winners of Battle of the Bands last December at Cardinal Newman School. The Queue continue to increase their repertoire and, according to their website www.thequeue.org.uk, hope to headline their own gigs soon. An original song by the band, "Wake Up", has been recorded, with other titles for recording now in preparation.
Arts Factory's Youth Programme continues to offer a variety of opportunities for young people. Current regular activities include: Tuesdays - DJ Skills 5-7pm, Gaming Club 5-7pm; Wednesdays - Dance with Katie (for ages 14+) 4.30 - 6.30pm, Gaming Club 5-7pm; all at Trerhondda.
