Volunteer Support Co-ordinator

August 2019

Primary purpose of the role:

To increase number of volunteers and manage the volunteer team and help develop the Factory Books enterprise and provide high quality admin support to Head of Operations.

Responsible to: Head of Operations

Salary – £9828 per annum (21hrs over 5 days)

Job Description:

Coordinate and lead a project team made up of volunteers from all walks of life.

Ensure that volunteers are appropriately trained and supported.

Develop positive relationships with organisations and individuals who can donate unwanted books to the business.

Coordinate the collection of donated books.

Ensure that the market value of donated books is accurately assessed and that they are categorised as suitable for listing in the on-line book store or suitable for disposal by other means.

Coordinate the listing of books in the on-line bookstore.

Ensure that books listed are stored in a methodical, easily accessible manner.

Coordinate the processing of book sales and on-line enquiries, ensuring that that customers and potential customers receive a high quality service.

Coordinate the disposal of unsold books via donation to other charities or recycled using the appropriate means.

Provide general administration support to a high standard as and when required.

Provide accurate and timely management information as required.

Any other reason tasks requested by your Line Manager.

 

Person Specification:

Essential:

A thorough understanding of, and commitment to, Arts Factory’s mission & values.

The ability to work positively with people of all walks of life.

An understanding of the barriers that may prevent disadvantaged people from participating in community projects, and the skills to overcome them.

Enthusiasm, and the ability to generate enthusiasm in others.

The ability to lead, coordinate and manage a project team of volunteers.

A well organised approach.

Customer care skills.

Well developed communication skills.

IT literate.

A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and good practice.

A strong commitment to the principles of sustainable development.

Clean Driving License and use of a vehicle.
